About My Late Father – PBUH!

September 16th 2015

Father

Day before yesterday my granddaughter Sibel was in tantrums because I guess she missed her Mother who had to go to Dubai for a day because of Official Business. Today she was very happy with her Mother’s return – and even hymning Twinkle – Twinkle Little Star! The tune is there – if not the words!

I wondered out aloud and comparing my granddaughter time with our times – because even in the bloody Zanzibar Revolution with killings and atrocities committed against Omani Arabs especially – even outside our street – but we were afraid to express our feelings of acute shock and fears! Afraid that if you said something out of turn – you may end with a slap – even if you were so scared and afraid!

Our children nowadays – and their children too – have more freedom and expression = and show of real emotions – unhindered and unblocked – than we ever dreamt to have! Our times were different to theirs now – Allah God Be Praised.

Our Late Father knew top VIPs in Oman. He rode the same donkey to school. I have written a lot about him in My Books – www.myownmajid.com

He always forbade us of living beyond our means – and taking bribes and corruption! He said to us – Do not disgrace yourself to go to Big Famous People to ask for favours and recognition! Remember your roots as we are just Poor Peoples and with Simply No Wastah or Connections! See the article I wrote on him below!

My grandparents were travelling from Manah Nizwa – place of birth – and as just mere teens to go to Africa. My Father who was just getting into adult hood saw a ‘pretty Omani girl’ – my Elder Mother – and fell in love with her! He refused to go to Zanzibar with my grandparents despite ‘repeated canning and beatings! So in the end they allowed him to get married to her – and they left without him! When his children were 12 (my elder brother) and 10 (my elder sister) respectively only then he went with his family to Tanzania. This was during the turbulent dark days of our Omani history when Omanis left in hordes to look ‘for greener pastures outside’.

Today I had an unpleasant dealing again with The Newspaper where I wrote my columns for 14 years – before The mainly sadly Indian Mafias and The Old Guards abruptly ended my columns – because I was refusing not To Speak The Truth – and pushing the dirt into the already piled up stinking carpet!

With due and sincere apologies!

Al Hamdu Lillah. Allah Is Great!

Best wishes and regards,

Majid Al Suleimany

My Letter to The Oman Daily Observer!

September 17, 2015

On Covering My Books in The Press even if I wrote for them for 14 years before unceremoniously and abruptly ended.

 35A - Front Cover

About My Thirty Five Books!

They covered a Dr Asya Al Bualy who wrote a book about one Fatma Barwani Ninja and the function was opened by HE The Minister of Information of Oman.

The woman was married to one Yusuf Himid who was instrumental in Zanzibar Revolution causing over 50000 Omanis to be killed in Bloody Zanzibar Revolution. Yet her story of the wife novels were opened ceremoniously by our own Minister.

This is My Apology Letter to them and then wrote in Facebook etc about My Late Father. Al Hamdu Lillah

Please accept my apologies for writing to express my dissatisfaction for your book coverage and presentation by HE MOI. It is none of my business and it was sent at a weak moment when our jealousy and envy streak kicked in that I had not received even a quarter of similar treatment with 37 books and even on more important serious topics that the country really needs even in Arab Management  – Road Safety etc.

I have to realise I come from an Arab Omani Interior born poor Father unknown and with no Wastah and my Mother born in Zanzibar even if grandparents are Interior also but went to Africa in their teens.

Please accept my sincere apologies. There is no need to fight these things but simply to accept the status quo that without Wastah you are mere nothing trifle unfortunately now in our country as it is.

Please carry on the good works!

Ma Salaamah! You will not hear from me ever again.  Byeee!

alhamdulillah[1]

SHOW NO FEAR – DOGS WILL NOT HEAR.

OR SHOW NO DOGS FEAR.

Show No Dogs Fear!

DOG-300x207[1]

Show No Dogs Fear!

At the age of 8 years old, four decades ago when we were residing in Mafia Island in Tanzania, my father and I met some wild dogs when we were moving about the island. My late father (died 12 years ago – PBUH) cautioned me to hold on to his hand ‘and show no fear, because dogs easily smell fear’.

But if you act brave and show no fear, they either leave you alone or move away’. At first I did not believe this was to be possible, but the dogs did exactly like dad said they would, and left us alone-despite a lot of initial ‘hard’ barking earlier on.

Later on, I used to play with some puppies after getting over my initial fear of dogs. I did not know then that dogs were considered as ‘unclean animals and to be avoided in touch especially’ – because the puppy had followed me to the Masjid (Mosque). Yet I wanted to pray in the congregation – and someone told my late Father – Sheikh Said, your son Majid was playing with the puppies – and yet he wants to pray now with us!

I got such a beating that I have never forgotten it to this day. You cannot blame the puppies – because for them a Masjid looks just like another building from their side – and it is up to you to keep them away – and actually not play with them in the first instance!

At times in life, one meets with a lot of situations like above when you are called upon to make difficult and hard decisions and choices. Life is full of making tough decisions and choices. One option is to do nothing and pretend that the problem is not there, the other is as is being said ‘to catch the bull by its horns’ when you have to act – sometimes fast too!

Sometimes you make decisions in life which at the time may seem right, only to find out later that you should have acted otherwise. Or you leave an option which you think is wrong, only to find out later that it was the better idea and choice. But the saying always holds true-‘those who dare-actually win’! Those who never try, never win’! Or as they say – the birds fly – because they know they can – or you you can never know how far you can go; till you have tried first!

Sometimes situations force you to behave in a way that you would not normally behave otherwise. This I had found out recently very difficult to pursue, but in the end I did so despite my own personal first inclinations and feelings – that my sanity, integrity and respects must first come first and foremost – so I quit the place after a long goodbye. I would have eventually been the loser, and those adversaries and those against me from the outset as the winners.

My late father used to advise me from the incident of the dogs. He used to tell me ‘if you show fear, or run away, the dogs like it more- because you are condescending yourself to their own level-and they will chase you for sure’.

My late father used to advise me from the incident of the dogs. He used to tell me ‘if you show fear, or run away, the dogs like it more- because you are condescending yourself to their own level-and they will chase you for sure’.

He also advised us his children – If you are in a dhow (boat) where everyone is One-Eyed – including the Captain – close one eye – otherwise they will come and take out one eye in their fits of envy and jealousy – and you never know because they could blind you completely in their eagerness to take out one eye so you can be like them!

They also say – do not bang your head against brick walls – only you have your head hurt and swollen in the process – and the brick wall is not even touched! You simply cannot remove people’s bias and dim-witted subjective individualistic views – so why try at all!

It is also said by the Romans that those that the gods want to destroy they make them lose their senses – and make them not see, hear or speak too in the process.

So why fight the system and the situation. There is no point or added use or advantage. You become the victim of circumstances by your own hand by showing you are different from others – and for making a stand and for being forthright and firm in your stand – views, focus and determination! Go with the tide – even if all the fish are dead – act dead also!

There are more important things in life than to be listened to and to be heard your case and situation. Even our own Great Prophet PBUH met the same experience from the idol worshippers in Mecca! And the hypocrites that pretended to go on – when they were actually against our Great Prophet PBUH. People destined for doom and destruction cannot be saved – especially when they do not want to be saved – so move along – let it go – let it pass!

The Chinese have this expression that I really like – If you are digging a grave for your enemy; dig two – and keep one for yourself! This saying speaks volumes in itself! Don’t you agree?

There is also this point as in our Religion. Do not ask for any help or favours from human beings – because you lose your standing, respects and esteem by doing so! Ask only your Allah SWT – God Only – because He likes to be asked – and to give!

It then made me convinced that I MUST GO ON NOW before it is too late! Especially for myself – because no one knows how long we shall live (leave?) in this world!

In one of the scenes in The Film – Moses –The Ten Commandments – The Great Prophet (PBUH) is seen to lament why he was chosen to lead his people and was asking God why it was so – and had not left him alone to be just a simple normal person without this heavy burden and load on his shoulders.

In our Islamic Holy Book – The Holy Quraan – in Surat (verse) Ad DhuhaThe Glorious Morning Light – our Great Prophet PBUH is told 3 – Your Guardian Lord Has Not Forsaken You, Nor is He Displeased6 – Did He not find you an Orphan and Give you shelter and care? 7 – He found you wandering And he gave you guidance – 8 – And He found you In need, and made you Independent – 9 – Therefore treat not the orphan with harshness 10 – Nor repulse him who asks (needs) – 11- But the Bounty of The Lord Rehearse and Proclaim!

In this Surat (verse), the vicissitudes of human life are referred to, and a message of hope and consolation is given to man’s soul from God’s past mercies – and he is bidden to pursue the path of goodness and proclaim the bounties of God. It talks about the usual scorn people have of people who come forward to ask for help and assistance – and are ignored – and their losing faith aspects.

It talks about being kind to such people – though helping people is by choice and is most encouraged in Islam. If need be, turning away such needy people has to be done with kindness and gentleness – and not harshness and or ugly cruel cutting approach – because it is the same God that gave you and also facing you – and that needy person who wants help from you now!

One of the people that I greatly admire is Gandhi. On the subject this is what he said – You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. He further said – I look only to the good qualities of men. Not being faultless myself, I won’t presume to probe into the faults of others.

There is also this expression in Swahili – Anaye kunyima maharagwe, ana kupunguziya ushuuzi! Those who deny you red kidney beans – just deny (reduce) you the gas (farts)..

During this difficult choice, I had, my late father had come to me in my dreams to remind me of this incident (or was it by telepathy?). I am determined to win – with God’s Grace and Blessings I am convinced that I will win Inshallah Amin God Willing. It is not how many times you fall – but how many times you get up – and keep going. I have had many falls in the past – but I got up – and went on.

What The Old Man Had Said!

Written in July 2009!

Father

Image My Late Father PBUH

During these difficult times, I thought it is essential, imperative and fundamentally important to share this one with you today on My Late Father (PBUH).

Hopefully all of us and The Younger Generation can learn from it all – Inshallah! Though admittedly I feel still so empty, vacuum, desolate and despondent that all I had tried to caution, counsel and warn in my books went to waste – and it seemed nobody had read my books at all. Especially A Cry For Help! I had talked about the increasing expectations – and the lack of tolerances and patience – especially amongst the youngsters especially – and how some few misbehaving expatriates would cause a great deal of trouble and havoc here..

My Late Father was not that educated – nor did he speak any good English – but my late Father was the most educated, intelligent, smart, wise and pragmatic person that I ever saw in my life!. Whilst there are many problems Father to Son Relationships – My Father and I were Best Friends to say the least. We could communicate and touch base at the highest levels. I try to do the very same with my children too.

This is an extract about My Late Father (Peace Be Upon Him) and from My Book A Cry For Help! – A.15 – The Oman FM Radio Interview – in June 2007. The Announcer is Mrs. Judith Razaq (JR) and me (MS)

JR – Majid – Who has the greatest influence in your life than anybody else?

MS – I think it is my Father more than anybody else because my Father was straight forward.

He made a lot of friends and he also made a lot of enemies too. Because if somebody had upset him- he never went about a long way to tell him so. My Father sometimes when we invite guests to our house – he is dead now- so Father – Father please Father -Please put the brakes on! He would say – the food is for you – eat it – I am not going to tell you more than once! You are the guests – the food is for you – please eat it. I tell Father – you do not have to tell them these things! You know he is straight forward. And he has been telling us- that you should not be scared or to be afraid!

Always tell the truth even if it may cost you – you must do the right correct same thing. But please do not go for lies and deceptions.

My late Father was particularly against taking loans (interests!) and living beyond our means – or trying to brag and show off in life. He also told us – Do not be deceived you have a rich powerful family, relative or friend – because nobody is going to help you – except yourself and your Lord only! To Him you go for help and salvation – and nobody else – if you want to be happy and live comfortably in this world! Live within your means – and do not overspent – or be stingy in life! Also earn your living honestly and sincerely!

And yes – Do not be jealous and envious of others especially within your own family! Because God does not like this in men. He is The Giver and The Provider – and He decides whom to give (more or less) or not at all. When you become jealous and envious – it means in other words that you are challenging The Lord himself!

Do not ask for kindness, mercies and favours from anyone in this life – except the Lord only! But if somebody came to you for help and assistance – help him – because The Lord favours those who are kind and compassionate to their fellow human beings – and The Lord is particularly angry on those who can help but do not – it is the same Lord who gave you that is denying him – and the Lord is testing you now!

Do not be obstinate and difficult in life – and listen to the advices of your parents and elders. Respect others and their belongings – just as you are doing yours and would not want others to harm yours either. A good Muslim is one who wants the same good things for himself for others to have too! Work hard and diligently for yourself and for your family – and never put all your faith and trust in people – because they can let you down badly and unexpectedly!

My Father ended being just a Grocery Shopkeeper in his life – though he rode the same donkey to school with people who were his peers in becoming great public figures and very rich and powerful elites – from his home village in Hail Al Ghaaf – Quriyaat – and after his parents had moved from Manah in Nizwa!

If we only had listened – To what the Old Man had said!! A great man lived – and went! May Allah God Protect and Preserve us all – Amin… Take Care!

Stick Together As One!

As kids, we have read all these stories. Most of us have been told these stories by our parents, grandparents or have read them in school too!! How come we conveniently have forgotten all these now?

This is the story of the Father laying on his deathbed and calling his children around him. Then he gives each child a stick and asks them to break the stick in two. Each one of them is able to do that. Then he takes all the sticks and ties them up in a bundle. He then asks each child to do the same. None of them are able to break up the bundle.

Each one of them looks in amazement and awe at their dying father and what he is now up to. Then the father cautions – so long as you stick together as one, nothing will ever happen to you in your lives. But if you get out of the bundle and be as a single stick, everyone outside can break you into two. You must always be together and act as one.

Remember this always my children! If you want to bring in drama and heroics in, the father soon dies after saying this. In real life, the father lives a bit longer, before the last breath leaves his body, giving enough time for his children to do their home works and comprehend their father’s teachings

***

He had said – Do not do bad things to others! Especially to someone who considers you as a friend – trusts you – and has simply done nothing wrong to you! Because – What Goes Around; Comes Around! You will be punished in this world itself – before even they bury you in your grave!

Are You Fasting This Ramadhan?

Are You Fasting This Ramadhan?

Did you pass the examination?

 June 23, 2015

The Real Test of Time!

Ramadan 1 Ramadan 2 Ramadan 3

I do not know about you, but it has happened to me! I have gone to these Academic Examinations where I thought the exam was quite easy – and had even left before the last half hour where exits are no longer allowed! The results at the end where quite shocking! I have also gone to exams where I thought I had failed! Only to find surprisingly that I just managed through a Pass mark! I was so sure I had failed and was already studying for a reseat exam! This was in Physics – which I really hated!

You see I became and am an Arts Student – and as I was not good in Science Subjects – especially in Physics and Mathematics! In one famous Chemistry exam, I had failed badly – because I did not read the instructions carefully before attempting the examination! The instructions were to choose one question each from Sections A to C – and guess what I did! I thought it said only one question from A or B or C – and I failed the examinations badly!

Now the Holy Month of Ramadhan is just like a Test to me! If you do not follow the instructions to the test you can fail badly! Like backbiting someone – talking bad things about people – cause trouble strife and mischief and in sowing arguments, discords, splits and division amongst people! Or just looking at things from your angle – and do not care or bother about the rest! Even in the Holy Fasting Month of Ramadhan!

Now we come to the Ten Thousand Dollars Question! Those of us fasting yet suffering from sickness like Diabetic (2) etc. You just end up just wasting your efforts and time – because your Fast will not be accepted – and is like going hungry and thirsty for 15 hours – wasted efforts and energies! You might as well had eaten and drank – instead of fasting! Failed in your Ramadhan Exams! Miserably!

Ramadan 4  2014 Reort  Fruit 4

To The VIP Guest! My Sincere Heartfelt Apologies!

I was at one time long time ago at a Religious Scholar house! So I gleefully told him – he was aghast! Only 9 days left for Ramadhan! He scolded me point blank – Ramadhan is a VIP Holy Guest – and you do not show him signs of tiredness and fatigue – of not welcoming him – and wanting him to go!

I started fasting at 8 years old! It was a difficult time! When I saw my late Grandfather cry ‘because Ramadhan was going – and he was not sure if he will fast next time – he had Parkinson and was also a Diabetic! – as a child I thought this weird! Because as a child I wanted it go – as fast as it could! And even as an adult repeated in front of The Sheikh! He said sternly to me – if you talk to Ramadhan like this – as if he was a person! You will make him feel not welcome – and not wanted! No one has forced you to fast!

So I told him I was Acute Diabetic case! He did not accept my explanation – The Religion is clear – if you cannot fast for a valid medical reason – then do not fast! Last year my glucose count went to 3 – so I broke fast 6 days in the month!

So far going strong – and I hope and pray for the best! And Oh Yes – to pass the examinations too!

Allah God Always Direct us all to the Right Path and Way – Ameen!

 Ramadhan Kareem!

 Best wishes and Regards,

 Majid Al Suleimany

About The Book!

I        PREFACE

This book is the 11th book in The Series – Between Us Only! And my 21st book so far.

It is recommended that this book be read together with this book: –

Writing: My Passion! – www.createspace.com/5085322

* Also – Goodbye; Between Us Only! – www.createspace.com/5139836

There were some articles missed out in the above * book after the end and the collapse of my column articles in November 2013 – more than a year ago!

What is of paramount importance is to get all my articles Post last Between Us Only1 series – Wipe My Tears! The book was published in June 2013 – all intended to put all my books in one place for further references and for record purposes!

I have also included all those articles after end of my columns mainly based on ‘a Technicality’ that was designed to stop and to end my columns.

I was keeping to myself and trying to avoid conflict – but still people were after me! So I decided to accept the challenge – and write and record this book as last of my columns writings for future records and references.

No one can kill the spirit, soul and heart of a Writer – because so long as a Writer will live he will not stop writing!

As Jules Renard had said – No one considers a Writer as ridiculous – even if he does not make any money! So there! Besides, I had posted this in all The Social Media – November 13, 2014

Why are we so set against each other? We will support The Foreigner and The Expatriate but not esteem and value our own! We do not have trust and confidence on our own! It is part of this great CURSE Jealousy, Envy and Bad Hearts within us! Bad unfeeling uncaring hearts inside some of us only! Pure evil-like just as is ISIL!

AAWW – After Compliments

I talked to my USA Publishers about our discussions yesterday on my books.

 Quote

Dear Mr. Suleimany

Thanks for your email on the points raised.

All your books including even the new ones have been independently reviewed by Books Subjects Experts including Eric Hoffer establishment and that includes also Independent Assessors in Kindle.

The feedback were all sent to you and mainly being highly commendable and very positive with only some highlighters here and there. That is the reason why your Psychology Book had won The USA Golden Seal of Literary Excellence Award for 2013.

It is true that the Assessments and Reviews are found outside the book but we have a Policy of publishing your book within 6 to 8 weeks once full PDF works have been produced to us.

We do not wait for Assessments Reviews etc. to be included in the books because in that way we allow the Reader to form his own independent opinions before reading what others are thinking about the book. This is in its best format Literary Excellency and Freedom to the Reader. The quoted examples in your country are perhaps because of too much censoring and editing bureaucracy and thus the need to include in the books before publishing.

Mr. Suleimany,  you know well with 12 books that is not how we operate as Publishers and for USA books publishing. We do not have this requirement in USA.

You have achieved a great deal and have done great works and you should hold your head high and brim with excitement and pride with your achievements.

Please do not let anyone make you feel down or small because as a Writer you cannot please everyone and there will always be some dead set against your books from the start for their own personal or other reasons.

Especially as your books cover real core hard stuff that many are scared stiff to touch even by a long pole!

Have A Great Day!

End Qoute

More Serious Issues at Stake!

There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed! – Ray Goforth

Prayers 1  Prayers 2 prayers-3[1]

Images – Let Us Keep Praying! Ameen! Amen!

*** Introduction

It was a pleasant surprise – after the earlier third parties messages sent – that The Chief Editor had called me asking me ‘for a new page and in burying the hatchet – so to speak’ to ‘resume my articles’ – and his assuring comforting words to me that ‘you are an Omani Writer – this newspaper is Omani – and you are writing in your own country too!’ – So I have decided to accept the challenge in resuming it!

Surely out there – there will be quite a lot pleasantly surprised too – and even some saying ‘Oh No! Not Again?’ – But that is life for you – you simply cannot please everyone – and not everyone will like you either! Like I always say – What else is new? Frankly, I have been so much busy in The Social Media instead – and I even dare to say ‘to dangerous levels’! So the change to return to the Main Media is most opportune – and welcomed!

A         Nice To Be Back!

It feels nice now to be back here – as it has been quite a long time since I wrote anything in the esteemed newspaper in the format of any article. Frankly, I have been so much busy in The Social Media instead – and I even dare to say ‘to most dangerous levels’! So the change to return to the Main Media is most opportune – and most welcomed too!

It reminds me of a good friend of mine – a Pilot – whom I had queried a long time ago that as we landed in the Zanzibar small strip I thought I heard brakes as the plane was landing? I thought this was strange – because normally the brakes were being applied after the plane had gone to some distance – not as the plane as it was landing – and this is dangerous even to the layman! Metaphorically, when I used to write my columns I used to ‘apply the brakes’ so to speak as the plane was landing – but now in The Social Media I could write whatever I wanted – to a reasonable level of course!

One thing I have noticed lately – even at the home front that people are at ‘short fuse’ and ready to explode at any moment! My granddaughter was asking me why those ‘bad people were killing innocent children’ – and what have the children done to be killed and to be hurt by this? I cried when one of The Palestinian girls had her legs amputated – including of her mother too! – And poor she was asking her father when ‘When can I have my legs back, Daddy?’ – So heartbreaking and distressing! Sometimes those with children killed could even be classified ‘as luckier’ – than those with the injured and maimed for life children! Arab blood is not cheap as an Arab Leader had said. Another had said that we are ready to go back and ‘ride our camels’ – but is the West ready to do the same – if we ourselves burn all the oil wells to prevent them being taken over by our enemies?

Frankly, I think the World and the Religious Leaders need to sit together to make hard and difficult decisions – so as to save this world from man-made anarchies, calamities, disasters and pure evil – as like ‘letting the Genie out of the bottle’ – or ‘of opening a can of worms’ – so to speak! They have to start by correcting and rectifying all the past mistakes and errors of judgment – and to start in valuing human life equally wherever and whatever they are – devoid of race, religion, ethnicity and creed. Only then could there be hope for mankind!

B         Still On the Job Fronts!

This week there was a good article by one popular Omani Writer about (frightening!) issues in Recruitment of The Youngsters in The Jobs – and mainly related to ‘right training for the right jobs’ – men for jobs vis-à-vis jobs for men in Human Resources slang!

There was an irate letter by one well-meaning and well intentioned European Expatriate – trust them to be more on the frontline than the others! – and possibly drawn out of exasperation – that someone should tell The Youth that not everyone can be a Manager – or get a job in The Public Sector – because there are many vocational and craftsmen jobs out there still manned by expatriates that the Omani Youth can try to absorb and take over! Absolutely right he is – but we have been tuned not to hear and accept the inevitable ‘sort of bad news’ out there!

Then we had a Public Official admitting that ‘we are flexible with Omanisation in Construction Sector – because as it was put ‘Job Seekers are not willing to work as labourers …Omanis can be hired for administration work’! Why administration work – if not Supervisor of the Labourers etc. roles – once you have gone through as they say – from the mail room to the Top Executive – but you definitely need to start from the bottom – even if for a brief period – before you can climb up the hierarchical ladder!

Reminds me of my niece – yes niece! – in Tanzania driving a Caterpillar first time I met her years ago – and now she has moved up to be the Supervisor of the whole road gang! And the men do as they are told – despite occasional snide remarks – that you are a very forceful boss than the man who was there before you! Reminds me also of my Dodge Durango being surrounded by some youths in one interior office location I was doing some HR Consultancy jobs – and after sort of being chased and asked to stop by some youth in their pickup – ‘You are The Consultant! Where are the jobs?’ Next day I returned to Muscat – and thank God had not yet signed for the Temporary Contract per se!

C         Still Misbehaving ‘Invited Guests’ In The Land!

There was a letter sent to me by one very much upset Omani lady asking me to ‘put it in my newspaper column’ – and at the time I told her I did not have the columns anymore – but I will put it in my websites. Due to space constraints – please find the full article here – http://www.majidall.com/2014/08/27/misbehaving-expatriate-arab-women/ . Whatever the case the ‘more modern (foreign) Arab ladies’ were insulting ‘the intelligence’ of the ‘still backward Omani ladies’ – even if she was ‘advanced enough’ to take her children to a private swimming pool facility – on a ladies day only! – And our invited foreign ladies of Arab origin insisting on smoking in front of the children in a public place – with secondary smoking ‘as potential venom to the young children – many below 5 years of age!

D         Arab Management: Reality or Myth? The Arab Manager!

From C above, and moving to Local (mainly Young) Managers and Company Owners (also mainly young sudden riches!) – and their complete disrespect and contempt of more Senior by age, experiences, education and professions Locals – with the usual expatriates’ Mafias in conjunction with The Old Guards – that has been happening to me since my last column over 14 months ago! I did write the two Arab Management books – Psychology of Arab Management Thinking! And A Cry For Help! Long before the so-called Arab Springs hit us! But who cares? And who reads my books? Anyway, D above is my ‘Final Book in Arab Management’ and as a ‘Last Attempt and Desperate Hope’ that someone – especially in The Leadership – will at least read my books – even if not in agreement!

*** PLEASE NOTE!

*** The article was scheduled for September 9th 2014 – Tuesday – but did not appear in The Oman Daily Observer due to ‘space constraints’!

Goodbye; My VIP Visitor!

Please Note! – This article was written last year in my column Between Us Only! in The Oman Daily Observer before the articles were abruptly stopped last year in November 2013 ! However, the article is still valid!

Only Israel decides to attack already starving hungry people and with still little to eat and cherish! Whilst we in GCC etc. spend a lot of money on food etc.! We are busy buying clothes – whilst the poor Gazans buy burial shrouds for their dead! Allah Be Our Judge Ameen Amen!

*** Goodbye; My VIP Visitor!

Some years ago, I had visited this great Religious Scholar house and I was commenting to him that you have been staying with us for the last 20 days and that you will soon be leaving us till the next time! He hushed me not to speak so loudly lest you hear – and get angry and annoyed with this assertion – and decide to leave even earlier? I queried him as to how you could overhear as we were speaking alone at the time – and you were not with us then at that time – as we were having some sweets and Omani coffee at that time? He replied me – Trust me – he has ears all over the place – and he will certainly hear you!

When I was a young child and for the first time was told to receive you and show you around in that old place of ours in that distant land – and it was a day or two before you were going to leave us that poor granddad was crying uncontrollably and profusely that he may not be around next time you came – I wondered aloud the relationships between you two to go to this extent!

I must admit – with sincere and due apologies to you now – but at that time I was looking forward for you to go – so things could return to me ‘as normal as a kid usually wants’ – and not follow at that time I thought as hard and rigid rules. I wondered that though you were a guest in our house – even if invited – but you did not have to give us all these things to observe whilst you were and especially with us then!

I used to joke with you in my crude and dry sense of humour that in the local lingo you could only stay with us for 10 days only – as the cut off and limiting factor – but you just looked at me with great sad eyes – that even as a kid ‘I should have known better’ than say this absurd cutting remarks to you – after all you were our invited guest too. If you remember I joked about you if you knew farming and how to plough – because that is what was called for to force you to repay your overstay – and being the guest of the house. They even allowed brute force for you to repay the overstay – in case you refused to do so!

I remember when I told my granddad on this – I was laughing loudly – and with great mirth – but he was not laughing back – and looked sadly at as a lost cause and child – and just confirming his suspicions that it was wrong for him to force his daughter to marry my father – and in hindsight he should not have done that. With his big stick – he looked debating whether he should strike me with it – but just decided to be cutting more = add salt to the wound by saying – what else can one expect – the rule like father like son is very true! I was upset with my granddad that he thought you as more important than the rest of us – especially our poor targeted dad!

I have to admit to you this. I do not know how you are going to take it – knowing you can be sensitive a few times when you feel tired by all the remarks of others. And especially showing to be double faced and being hypocritical – that in front they show that you are most welcome – but hidden and away from you they look at the calendar – and hope that you will go away soon – and leave them alone to do the things they were used to do – with you not around to keep them in check – and forcing them to perform and try to ‘be better people’!

But I assure you – because I know them – and I am a ‘chip of the old block’ – as I am one of them too – we will all try to behave – and be nice and good – and hope it will be longer before you come and visit us again! Despite all the sermons and lectures – once it is night and eating contest time – we just behave as if you are not around. Like the East Africans say – if you want to insult someone that badly – why choose words or behaviour to do it – just do it – and all goes! I apologise and am very sorry for all these – but you are a great understanding person – even if it grieves and hurts you too!

And then another thing! I know you are not a great eater or drinker either – but even though you keep telling us that we are cooking too much food that goes to waste everyday – that even the cats (and dogs) are no longer interested in the left-overs – but despite your lectures, counsels and advices – they still do it.

I wonder if it is wickedly and purposefully done – so you get angry and annoyed – and leave early. But I guess they still want you to stay – and are showing it in their own ways – because they are looking forward for that special day gifts and presents – that you usually give out on the last few days! And of course all those money for the kids – after you have left the night before!

There is something that I must admit to you too before you go! If you have noticed – I was not that welcoming this year like in the past – because I am trying real hard to remain hospitable, receptive and welcoming! A few cases I had a mind just to tell you to please go – and I cannot keep up the pretences anymore – but my health has gone bad – and being diabetic too – had short fuses of anger and fury – and I think you must have noticed as I have dealt with others – even in the family.

I apologise sincerely for all these things – and I have a great mind that if my situation continues – perhaps you will not see me next time you come – but please do pray for me – and forgive me too. I have tried really hard this time – believe me!

My VIP Visitor – until the next time you come – adieu – and as I cannot say goodbye now – because you will still come to visit us – even if I may not be around the next time – but others will surely be there to receive you – welcome you – and all the grace and mercies you bring. For those that do not appreciate – and even behave worse than before – feel sorry for them – and pray for them only!

That is the only thing you can do for them – and please forgive them too! Including those that had a public lunch in demonstrations of your visit – because they did not want you to come and visit – and they were being advised to ‘make you feel welcome’!

I will try my level best to welcome you again – next time you do visit – but if you find my health and state has detiorated further to not able to welcome you – please forgive me from now! I had really tried – but dismally have failed – and let you down for the first time in my life now. My heart cries with remorse and sadness – but what else I can do? I only hope and pray that you will understand – and appreciate what I am saying to you now only! So sad…

So sad the more – because I do not know if you come the next time – if I will be around? And if – if I could welcome you and show you around? Because this time it was very difficult – and even on that day when my glucose count went down that low – because I was so sad and unhappy – and even The Paper and some Family members had attacked me – and I just could not take it!

I know that day you were disappointed – but what else could I do? That is why I am keeping away from The Paper – and those same Family members too! I hope you will not look at me ‘with lesser eyes’ – but I am so sad and unhappy – please Forgive Me Only!

Goodbye – My VIP Guest and Visitor – The Month of Ramadhan Fasting!

Reactions Received – My Letter To The Newspaper!

Reactions Received – My Letter To The Newspaper!

Fan (Omani) – I think your reaction to the newspaper was to the point. My only advice is that don’t allow the other party to get the best of you. Don’t sound emotional. Just give them your piece of mind and move on..

Lady Fan (Omani)  – Well , its one’s duty to speak up when things don’t go well, if I were you I would have kept quiet cause its just like talking to a wall. Its not heard and nobody cares. Its just losing ur face over and over again and nobody cares. I will never agree with you the way you humiliate ur self. You are a talented man you deserve the best of the respect. Be calm Majid it won’t harm you and Allah sees everything. Be patient. If one door closes the other will open. Believe me.

Fan (Omani) – Spot on. I think there is a lot of hypocrisy in our society. You call a spade a spade and that’s quite admirable. Very few people have the guts to go openly public in expressing a critical opinion. Did you get any response?

From A Dr. Phd – Dr. Faris Al Hajri – See Comments Here

Dear Mr Majid, We strongly support your endeavor. Remember, the best writers, noble people, celebrities, scientists, etc, were at first neglected by their own people; that is in West during the past centuries. But; today it all changed. So keep up, never give up, you’re a very great writer, never let any negative people or pessimistic people put you down, the most you succeed, the more their feel ashamed of their wrong acts.

Finally, the Universe will respond to you abundantly. Keep up with those who are attracted by you, keep some distance to those who neglect you.

Keep looking at your achievements most whenever you get upset of a specific incident. You’re great in the eyes of many who deserve to see your smiles.  Cheers!!!

Senior Omani Professional  – I admire your guts and in your sincerity to want to make changes in things before they go really bad!

Some others ‘too personal’ to include here – but equally good (or have requested anonymity) !

As some of you may know, I was a Columnist for The Oman Daily Observer for the past 13 years until November 2013 when my two columns – with a legal enforceable contract signed by both parties for two columns on a continued basis – unless one rescinded in writing and giving one month notice period – was abruptly cut to one article only.

When I complained, the new man in charge – fellow Omani National – asked me to write a story with Omani theme for their new magazine Weekend – which I did – but they replied it ‘was not suitable for their requirements`! I found it only missing the next day in the magazine. I wrote and called but no one answered.

See the article here –

http://myshorttakes.com/2014/03/03/short-story-no-money-for-the-crayons/

Before that for more than 6 months they did not pay me for my articles . When I complained my emails were blocked by the top guy (also Omani National)! Eventually and belatedly they paid me! Because at one time I had quit because of ‘late payments’ but was persuaded to come back because the same new man promised you will be paid – which they did – eventually 6 months later and even here periodically!

I was given an email ultimatum of only one column – or not at all! I chose the later – that is why you do not see my columns anymore now! The Indian Mafias and The Old Guards have won again to kill The Truth guy speaking out again!

Should these things happen in Oman from a Government run paper? You be the Judge!

And yes I am also Author of 10 books www.myownmajid.com I had to beg them to cover my books for the new ones even The Road Safety Ones www.bethesafedriver.com though Muscat Daily easily covered my books on a public interest as Omani Author! Do I need to say more? Sad!!

The books they cover are from VIPs and outsiders – and picture books or children books – but no serious stuff like mine that makes you think! They can even cover Malala – but not their own!

Is this a National Policy? Even the CIA looks after itself! Yet we see live how a school graffiti destroyed a whole nation – but yet we do not see or hear! Or allow people to speak! And yes – No one is afraid anymore!

If this can happen to an Omani National Senior Professional I dread to think what would happen to the younger ones in other media  places! Very scary even to think about it!

The Big Question – Should a Government National Newspaper be run this way get involved – because these things have been known to effect us all in one way or the other – See The Mouse Trap Story!

The Mouse Trap story

I just had to share this one with you all!

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package.

What food might this contain? The mouse wondered – he was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning: There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, ‘Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me.” I cannot be bothered by it.’ The mouse turned to the pig and told him, ‘There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!’

The pig sympathized, but said, I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. ‘Be assured you are in my prayers.’ The mouse turned to the cow and said ‘There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!’ The cow said, ‘Wow, Mr. Mouse. I’m sorry for you, but it’s no skin off my nose.’ So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer’s mousetrap alone.

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house — like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey. The farmer’s wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught. The snake bit the farmer’s wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital , and she returned home with a fever.

Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup’s main ingredient.

But his wife’s sickness continued, so friends and neighbours came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig. The farmer’s wife did not get well; she died. So many people came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them. The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.  So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it doesn’t concern you, remember — when one of us is threatened, we are all at risk.

We are all involved in this journey called life. We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.

REMEMBER,,,,

EACH OF US IS A VITAL THREAD IN ANOTHER PERSON’S TAPESTRY;

OUR LIVES ARE WOVEN TOGETHER FOR A REASON.

One of the best things to hold onto in this world is a friend

Best Regards,

Majid Al Suleimany

With sincere due apologies!
