I have read Majid’s Road Safety book and it is comprehensive with real cases of accidents. I used the book to train team members on accident investigations, however; it is very useful to prevent ourselves from falling into the same situations.

Recently; It came to my knowledge that a local is burnt while splashing petrol on dry wood fire in order to improve burning but unfortunately he got burnt and currently at burns ward.  Writing is a Passion of Writers, Authors and Columnists – and will not die even after the Author’s death – because his works will always be there to be viewed and be read by future generations! As we have seen books still doing rounds by Authors long time gone centuries ago!

Thus those ‘acting as God’ to stop and prevent your writings are just deluding themselves more than anybody else! Just keep praying for them to return to the right path and ways – Ameen – Amen – and for Good Karma!

For Bad Karma says – Those who cause you hurt and pain – do not go for revenge – because God will let you watch as they ‘screw up’ in life! The East Africans also say – The man who goes up the ladder will come down sooner or later! And your call about more Omanis to be needed represented in the especially English press and media as it is now being controlling and dominated by Indian people mainly and also some British peoples.

You also called for more stronger quality powering Omani Managers in the Press and media. Believe me Sir that people mistake us to be not knowing and not smart people and they can fool and play with us. But if they cannot learn than they will never learn in future. We are not stupid peoples. We aware and knowing too.

All your books including even the new ones have been independently reviewed by Books Subjects Experts including Eric Hoffer establishment and that includes also Independent Assessors in Kindle.

The feedback were all sent to you and mainly being highly commendable and very positive with only some highlighters here and there. That is the reason why your Psychology Book had won The USA Golden Seal of Literary Excellence Award for 2013.

It is true that the Assessments and Reviews are found outside the book but we have a Policy of publishing your book within 6 to 8 weeks once full PDF works have been produced to us.

We do not wait for Assessments Reviews etc. to be included in the books because in that way we allow the Reader to form his own independent opinions before reading what others are thinking about the book. This is in its best format Literary Excellency and Freedom to the Reader. The quoted examples in your country are perhaps because of too much censoring and editing bureaucracy and thus the need to include in the books before publishing.

Mr. Suleimany, you know well with 12 books that is not how we operate as Publishers and for USA books publishing. We do not have this requirement in USA.

You have achieved a great deal and have done great works and you should hold your head high and brim with excitement and pride with your achievements.

Please do not let anyone make you feel down or small because as a Writer you cannot please everyone and there will always be some dead set against your books from the start for their own personal or other reasons. Especially as your books cover real core hard stuff that many are scared stiff to touch even by a long pole!

When Things Go Wrong! Murphy’s Law!

When Things Go Wrong! Heard of Murphy’s Law?

     

Anything that can go wrong will go wrong! An adage that was said to have originated from the 1950s! It was named after Captain Edward A. Murphy of the USA Air Force after a military project that went wrong and with his words about the involved Technician – If there is any way to do it wrong, he’ll find it!

You will excuse me because by now I should have learnt to keep my mouth shut! Because like I have said it many times before – It is just like banging my head against brick walls! You only make your head swollen and red – and there is simply nothing achieved except to be considered ridiculous contemptuous trouble only! Again! But you will forgive me – because I never learn my lesson – even after 12 books written and one correctly and rightly said in theme and focus as simply – A Cry For Help! Written long before the ‘troubles’ hit us – and we did not escape the onslaught!

This is from Senior Official in a big high prestigious corporate and in The Media Department as Head Section – because ‘he is not interested to keep knowing how my Road Safety Book (Arabic) is doing – though he was initially part of the team that supported the publication of the book – he perhaps ‘with feet being dragged’ in the process I would not know really.

I apologized profusely and said would do so! And unsaid that from now on would not be interested to send also to the private email given – ‘if you are interested’? No I am not – Sorry Sir for disturbing you, Sir?

What happened to the Delete Key – or marking email address as Junk so that you do not have even to see it – or just ignore and delete from This Sender?

• Family members getting out from Family Whats Up group because of disagreement on minor issues – which all started with making satirical sarcastic remarks of an Elder who could even give birth to you by age – if he was a girl and married at puberty!

Of course there will be remarks to come of ‘why wash our dirty linen in public’? So to say! But it is not the first time it has happened here!

From the above a Professional Head who should encourage receiving information from Staff and ex Staff Retired also ‘asking for his email address to be removed’ – because he simply has no time to go through all the emails because ‘he is a very busy person’ per se!

Sorry Sir – Please accept my sincere and genuine apologies – will not do that in the future anymore! Sorry Sir! Will not trouble you ever again! In actual fact will not come to the place – even if you invite me to do so!

Again the Question – What happened to the Delete Key – or marking email address as Junk so that you do not have even to see it – or just ignore and delete from This Sender?

Frankly, nothing hurts me like receiving such mails! But God Is Great! Allah Kareem.

• The (Indian) Dish Antenna paid till end of October 2014. Two days back they disconnect it – and the Technician (Indian also!) has still not turned up – because his Indian Boss (!) has not paid him – and ‘I could not be bothered – I do not care – report me to PACI! My daughter is sick – and I have no money to go the clinic!

His Indian boss has gone back home – again leaving mess all around! But do we Omanis learn? No – we are very polite and respecting peoples – it is all right ‘for them to shit on our heads’! Remember we are docile and weak? Even if more than 86% of Top GMs and Managers are Indians too – and their whole country is in a mess – but we want them instead to run our country for us! Please! Please!

We need The Marriage License? An Administrator in a Public Hospital to a Omani Mother and her pregnant sick bleeding teenage daughter – in fear of losing her baby! But they cannot find ‘the original’ to be produced! Only then will the Omani teenager be seen by a Doctor!

Is this in Occupied Gaza or Palestine? Or in Israel? No it is right here at home buddy!

Where are you? Sleeping? Don’t you hear me speak?

• Polarisation differences because the Company Owner from another region will not pay the Consultant (that is me!) because the Indian GM was very rude – and decided to stop the work he was doing for them – even refused payment for the part already done!

Complained to The Big Company also where the contract is from – including copy to The High Official – but simply no takers.

It has been a long while since I wrote anything in the format of an article for my websites – and as you know my two columns in The Oman Daily Observer took a natural death metaphorically by the wrong prescriptions of drugs and medicines to a slowly dying cancer victim! Sometimes the end comes quicker than expected after remission even – or when the patient was thought to be recovering by a new doctor – who turned out to be even worse than the previous doctors looking after the sick ailing patient – and ‘kicking the bucket’ for all to see!

Of course, with great cheers and happiness from some quarters determined and for some intentional wanting and willing for the columns to end! And yet still with some still craving for some more articles to come out – and a sort of relief that though the columns have ended in the said paper since November 2013 – see here –   – but ‘sort of relieved’ that I was still posting in my websites my articles – mainly in www.majidall.com – www.majidwrite.com – and opinions and views on www.majidsn.com . This apart of my books in www.myownmajid.com – www.myown-ebooks.com and www.majidbooks.com Plus the new websites for Short Takes (Stories) with mainly Omani theme at my new website at www.myshorttakes.com – and the Road Safety website at www.bethesafedriver.com

One can safely say that with all these websites belonging to me – and recently being that active in the Social Media – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Whats’ Up etc. – the losers are more the newspaper than me – because if there are still followers and fans out there they can still follow me! There are of course those that bought the newspaper only on the days that my articles would appear because they read more Arabic newspapers – and now will not be doing so! And those fans that may be inclined not to buy the newspaper anymore – because my articles no longer appear!

On 12^th of May 2014 – there was a PDO Talents Day – and due to the New Management style now in Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) – I was invited to display my books by the External Affairs Department – EAD – under Engineer Abdul Ameir Al Ajmi and through the leadership and guidance of Raoul Restucci – the good man! With a new openness, foresight and pragmatism – of bringing in more fairness, ethics, principles, professionalism all around in the company – its modus operandi and its environment!

Trust me in saying this but I had carried a lot of Excess Baggage and past bad memories and recriminations with me – and with exceptions of going to the PDO Clinic as ‘wife’ to my working wife still there – just avoided the place – until I got the call that they were translating my book (and for publishing few copies) of my Road Safety Books – Being The Safe Driver! – www.createspace.com/4097374 and Behind The Wheel! – www.createspace.com/4655681 – and more after being invited formally to present my books to the VIPS (Dr.Rumhy and Dr. Sunaidy etc) and as belonging to The PDO Family!

This bit made me feel so ashamed and so bad – and I cried in my heart and with a few tears out! Just shows that if you treat people right and ethical – they may surprise you with what they can deliver! And that is Raoul for you as the new man at the helm in PDO!

In all my mind, I had never thought or imagined that I would be welcomed in into this new great Office building – and display my books! I only visualized how I even was always finding excuses not to drop Madam Wife at the office – because of the heartache and pain inside me – mainly attributed by my mentality of not wanting to forget! And unnecessarily carrying so much Excess Baggage with me! The turning point for me was when HE Dr. Rumhy told Dr. Sunaidy (HE Ministry of Commerce and Industries) that ‘this is his book that he got an award in USA’ – Psychology of Arab Management Thinking! – USA Gold Seal Literary Excellence Award 2013 – and he himself being USA educated – and during those times when I looked after Overseas Training in PDO – as the only sole man in charge! Of USA Dollars 18 million per year – and thank God and my upbringing – never took even a Baiza that did not belong to me! God Is Great! God Is Merciful!

B         So What Else Is New?

Frankly I had imagined that I would die with my Toyota Camry banger – 8 years old – and gone to 190,000 kms – but the surprise was mine when I still got 2300 OMR for it in exchange of a new GMC Yukon! Those who remember my case will remember how bad I felt in losing my Dodge Durango and my daughter Majda took it over from me! The surprise was all mine when I was now able to get this Yukon instead – incidentally also silver coloured! My favourite colours have been blue, silver, gold and white for my cars in my life!

I have also been chatting with my 5 months old granddaughter Sibel bint Fahad on Modi and The Indian Elections – and other issues – and I do not know what babies’ minds think – but I guess baby had to smile and glee to please granddad as if she knew what I was taking to her about! You would imagine she was apt to understand with her mother Oman born but Pakistani too!

As the good wife was heard to ruefully acclaim – I think you are losing your faculties and mind – by talking to baby on such grand big issues – but the irony was that when granny wanted to take baby out of the ‘hearing scene equation’ – baby cried to be back with grandfather! I guess one day she too will be a great author and writer too – if not going into politics instead! Sic!

C         Okay – So What About The Topic You Started? Remember? Being Positive At Work?

Yes we know M – you have the knack of taking your time to come to the point! Perhaps that infuriated some of them – especially the new man? Or as they say – you take your Reader up to the bridge – and let himself decide whether to cross the bridge – or return? That we know of you M! 

D         Being Positive At Work!

You know this thing had made me so raving made that I decided to post in the newspaper as below – in the hope that this place especially would be interested – and I can give them ‘a piece of my mind’ in the hope of changing ‘fixed mind sets’ – like Ghandi had said – I claim to be a simple individual liable to err like any other fellow mortal. I own, however, that I have humility enough to confess my errors and to retrace my steps and Einstein – A problem cannot be solved by the same level of mind that created it!

The advertisement ran – MBA Omani HR Management Consultant Expert Advisor UK educated and trained Early Retired PDO 25 years experiences in all aspects of HR Training Development Omanisation etc. looking for temporary part time job 8 to 1 pm or Project work majid@majidsuleimany.com – Muscat Daily this week!.

What Happened?

I needed some personal services at a certain prestigious famous place! The first case was just for a copy of an original document that had been given to me! I had the copy – the place I had approached before in the services needed the original resubmitted. So I went to the place. The good man at the other end insisted on me to reapply from scratch again! I knew this process would take a long time and was tiresome! So I asked him whom I can go to get a replacement Original Copy – The Usual To Whom It May Concern Letter!

Frankly I do not know why this public place needed again the same letter I had given to them before – with the usual excuse ‘we could not find the original in your file’ – or just lazy and incompetent not to be bothered to go and look!

So the good man gave me a contact in the Head Offices – and when I called her she told me – come and collect it anytime you are ready to collect – or can send to your branch (or any other branch for that matter!). In actual fact your Branch can give you this letter!

So I went back to the man – and passed on what I was just told! Again at a professional place – the man said – this is not our job – but the Head Offices only! You have to go there to collect it!

I was contemplating to do this – when a brain wave struck me – to go to another Branch to get the letter – and the Incharge gave me the same required letter within 10 minutes with reference to the copy at hand!

I had another issue of the same place. This time I went to The Manager! The good lady said to me – Yes it can be done! But unfortunately she sent me to the same person like before! I knew it! He said – It cannot be done this way! This time I got angry – and told him off!

Anyway, he still won in the end – by doing some changes to what I had originally wanted! Though in a way you can say almost fully done!

Now you see why I was raving mad!

Do you see the difference?

One is a negative mind that sees everything as a problem and difficult – whilst the other was POSITIVE and pragmatic – that sees a solution in almost everything requested of them!

Some people will never change – they take sadistic pleasure to make things difficult for customers – even if in a Public or Professional place for that matter!

Like I cynically and skeptically always say – What else is new? Things have not changed much – at least I stopped writing my columns!

The mind just boggles – could that be a reason my articles died? That I open my mouth too much to speak my mind? You be The Judge!

Do Not Push Your Children To Suicides!

I was reading the article below *** and as a parent of also three daughters – two being twins – my heart cried out for the poor parents now terrible anguish and suffering after this has happened to them – and their lives will never be the same again – especially if the girl was the only child!

In an Islamic Hadith (Story) I read about our Great Prophet (PBUH) scolding a father of a child who was ridiculing openly his child who had urinated on the Prophet’s dress. The Great Prophet told him off saying that there was nothing big about it all as the offender was just a child – and what kind of a future the child would have if he was openly continuously being ridiculed like this in front of everyone?

This is the point that I want to make here!

Do Not Make Them Cry – To feel worthless!

In all my over 13 years duration but now expired columns in Between Us Only! in The Oman Daily Observer – and those who are my Readers and Fans will authencicate – I have continuously strived to write about Parenting, Family importance and values! You can even find so many articles in this same very website about this!

A long time ago a very close friend and confidante had told me how he had at one time planned to commit suicide by similarly jumping from a high towers in UAE after his business went bust – and he was facing many problems – mainly legal and court based in Oman. It seems to him that people are less tolerant and patient for trying to go into business and being self employed – and all the SMEs support rhetoric still going on now 30 years later to no avail or takers!

In that night he had a dream of his late father coming to him and telling him ‘that things will be okay – and next day he received a good job offer that made him to be able to sort out his problems. The only thing that had saved him is his sister noting something was amiss – and the man had similarly locked himself in with his ‘suicide note’ on the dressing table!

Another friend of mine had caught his teenager son about to jump from top of his villa after he was continuously and repeatedly being scolded for ‘failing grades’! The boy had even tied a brick around him – and in order to make the fall faster and more grave! He caught the boy just in time after reading his suicide note in the boy’s room. The part that still eats him saying ‘Please forgive me for disappointing you my parents’! The boy today is an executive in a large national firm – just imagine!

People should learn from others (mistakes) and I urge you once again to pay more attention and care for the children and the family – like I said in my Oman FM Radio interview – what is the point of having more money when the family is disintegrating in front of your very eyes?

14 year old Indian Schoolgirl jumps to death in Dubai

*** A 14-year-old Indian schoolgirl jumped to her death from the 17th floor of a Dubai tower after her father scolded her for cheating in an exam, local media reported Monday.

A cleaner alerted police after he found the girl’s body lying on the ground in the Jumeirah Lake Towers neighborhood, Khaleej Times reported.

Police investigators found that a teacher had caught the girl cheating in an exam and warned her that she would be expelled if it happened again.

At home, her father scolded her when he found about the cheating incident, the paper said.

“Her parents told us that when she returned home, she was distraught and very upset. Her father, who came to know about the cheating, also chided her. She went to her room and locked the door,” the daily cited a police officer as saying.

The parents only found out about their daughter’s suicide when police informed them.

A Traffic Accident – A Poem by Mustafa Mohamed Said (PDO)

 

فَجائِعُ الدُهرِ أَنواعٌ مُنَوَّعَةٌ                 وَلِلزَمانِ مَسرّاتٌ وَأَحزانُ

يا غافِلاً وَلَهُ في الدهرِ مَوعِظَةٌ             إِن كُنتَ في سنَةٍ فالدهرُ يَقظانُ 

Every morning thousands of people in Oman leave their homes on their way to attend their business with many youngsters  gong to school.  As they lovingly part from their families with a “see you later” wave, I wonder how many of them will not make it back.

With the continued increase in road accidents and the mounting number of fatalities one should thank God every time he or she arrives home safe.  True, our roads at the moment do not look very safe with the amount of road constructions going on but the fatalities seldom occur on these roads.

Rear end collisions are frequent and I do not know how one can avoid in becoming a victim while stopping at a traffic light or in heavy traffic.  From my personal observation I found that preoccupation, negligence and disregard to safety rules are the main contributing factors leading to many of these accidents.

It was a lovely, bright and sunny morn

As homes got emptied from old and young,

The father in his car blew a ‘cherio’ horn

The children’s satchels on their backs were slung

 

They boarded the school bus as an unruly crowd

Chattering and pushing to get the best seat.

Everyone laughing and talking shrill and loud

In their coloured uniforms, clean and neat.

 

Happy loving children; full of life and joy,

Carefree, unburdened yet from care and worry

Happiness overflowing from each girl and boy

Unaware that for some it will soon be a sad story.

 

For most of them school was joy and fun,

Games to play and friends to meet,

When all was over and lessons done,

Back to their bus, each sitting on its seat.

 

With funny mocking faces here and there

Their young faces aglow with joy and pleasure

They teased as children do without a care

They were their parents’ greatest treasure,

 

The sudden screeching of the brakes,

The swaying of the uncontrollable bus,

The screams of fear and the shakes,

God! Have mercy on all of us.

 

Then came the impact with a terrifying roar

As the bus ploughed into a stationary car,

It turned turtle and hurtled as it tore

Over a slope then rested on a sandy bar

 

What made the school bus to lose control?

Crash into two other vehicles; what a mess!

As it careened over the railing and then roll

Into twisted metal, gory bodies in distress.

 

The silence was broken with screams and groans

As the gathering crowd moved to rescue

The bleeding wounded crying in piteous tones,

Shocked and bewildered without a clue

 

Some lost their lives; nipped cruelly in the bud.

Most bleeding and groaning on hospital beds.

Their tattered clothes mixed with sand and blood,

And coarse bloody bandages on most heads.

 

Who can console the grieving parents now?

Who can assuage their bitter woe and pain?

Stop the parents’ tears cascading down; and how

They upward gaze and bitterly to God complain.

 

Day after day on the treacherous road is lost

A husband; leaving behind his kids and wife

Or some parents lose their only son, the cost

And burden they bear throughout their life.

Open Message To The Offices’ Bosses!

Last week I was invited for a social function at a famous Recreation Centre in town. With my family and the group we were enjoying our meal at this Asian Night Theme – and at another end seated at one table were all my so-called some of my ex bosses coincidentally at another table – but just themselves without their families! The ironical part is that they are all retired peoples like myself – in the same status – and the power and authority of the old days in the offices all gone past them! Here they were all at the same level – as just Invitees. No bosses around! Those days all gone past – and dead now! The scare and fear they could instill in others long gone and evaporated too!

So I told the good wife I will go over and ‘stir, tease and joke’ them up a bit! Madam wife was dead set against the idea – and making a foolish spectacle of myself – and in belittling myself in front of others! What for? she whined!

Where there is a will – there is a way! I excused myself – and made my way to the Gents’ to heed the call of nature! On my return – I surprised them with my presence! The surprise was more mine – because at least on the surface they seemed to like my interruption of them – and in visiting them! That made me loose steam – and made me feel bad and guilty long after! One of them had even joked – Be careful! He will write about us in his next column – sic!

As a Diabetic case – I should not take sweets – but I did go for the dish at the end of the meal!

The Message – You never know in life! That Assistant of yours could one day meet you once you are no longer in power and in control – so it is important to be nice and good to people – because one day you will meet them later in life! They will only come to respect and esteem you – if only you have reciprocated in kind! Or there will be no one being sympathetically or feeling for you if bad things or misfortunes ever happen to you in later life!

So be nice to everyone – hopefully they will remember – and reciprocate in kind! Being nasty and in control always – or acting badly to others – doing harm and damages to others – may one day make you accountable to face the wrath and angers of others that you have mistreated badly in the past!

Some of our people are good actors and impersonators – so long as they are ‘afraid’ or need the job – but the future is uncertain once you are out of the office. It is important to remember this always!

I personally hate people who boast and talk in loud voices – and in being proud, conceited and haughty in life!

The problems that we are facing in the world nowadays are some people having an inflated opinion of themselves as being more important and as being superior – and looking down on others with disdain and contempt! Just because they suddenly have found themselves with a few coins in their pockets! Or it is just a sham and facade of themselves thinking so!

The weird irony is that in many cases that some of these same people have nothing to show in life except false pride and animosity – and actually some of them are even poor and struggling in life – yet still proud and conceited!..

Alexander was a great Greek king. As a military commander, he was undefeated and the most successful throughout history. On his way home from conquering many countries, he came down with an illness. At that moment, his captured territories, powerful army, sharp swords, and wealth all had no meaning to him. He realized that death would soon arrive and he would be unable to return to his homeland. He told his officers: “I will soon leave this world. I have three final wishes. You need to carry out what I tell you.” His generals, in tears, agreed.

“My first wish is to have my physician bring my coffin home alone. After a gasping for air, Alexander continued: “My second wish is scatter the gold, silver, and gems from my treasure-house along the path to the tomb when you ship my coffin to the grave.” After wrapping in a woolen blanket and resting for a while, he said: “My final wish it to put my hands outside the coffin.” People surrounding him all were very curious, but no one dare to ask the reason. These things of rivalry, jealousy, envy, polarization – and not recognizing and valuing our own – need to end!

I wrote to The Oman Daily Observer – who print my columns – and whom I have given complimentary gift copies to All in The Features Columns – including the Top Guys too! NO ONE RESPONDED – as usual!

It is a shame that these kind of things are happening in our country now – after all the things we have seen live happening in others – starting with just a school graffiti!

Bloody Shame on us!

Now we hear of Angola banning Islam and breaking down of mosques!

What is next?

As an Omani – Arab blood and Muslim – I hold my head down low with shame! Real Shame!

Maybe we do not meet the mark because we write in English? Maybe!
