Between Us Only! The Original!

The Original Book Redo!

http://www.createspace.com/5041985

The original book was published on around May 2003 in Oman by Al Nahda Printing Press.

Surprisingly, despite my 12 books later – there is still a large following who still think that this was my Best Book! I would not know – but surely it was My First Book! Compiling all my articles in my columns then Between Us Only! And At My Workplace in The Oman Daily Observer!

You can still find this book still in many offices in Oman – and that is really touching to me as The Author! The other day my brother in law MYS was ‘scolding me’ that I should have translated this book into Arabic – instead of the book Arabic – Behind The Wheel! – www.createspace.com/4875352 He is one of my most advertent Reader and fan!

As there are only few copies left circulating around, I thought it fit to preserve the works by redoing the book! I was debating to add pictures and images – and to sort out by topics – but in the end decided to try as best as to add some images in! The aforementioned were ‘the usual pointers and complaints’ mainly raised on the book. The first book was sponsored by The MB Group of Companies and carried their Corporate Logos.

Many of the articles talk of increasing extremism, fundamentalism – of plain evil etc. – and the tear and the breaking up of The Society Fabric! 13 years later – The Truth arises – and what is most astonishing is that most of the things I had said and predicted then came to pass! And still as prevailing relevant too to date!

It was always my dream to redo the book on my own! Today that dream has become a reality! I hope you will enjoy reading the book again of past memories – a sense of Déjà Vu!

Despite strong temptations, I decided just to stick to make the book as best same as The Original version! I have used the book image of The Sequel book as front cover for this one – because honestly I did not like the previous one of boy whispering to boy – and thus an opportune time to redo it!

The Book Redo was submitted today. See it here and at http://www.createspace.com/5041985

This book has Images, Pictures, Caricatures etc. – missing from the First Original Book published 13 years ago. This will be my 14th book now!

Best Wishes and Regards,

About The Book!

Why I Wrote The Book!

Book Behind Cover Writing!

  • Do not tell me you are going to write this book! I just cannot believe it!British CEO
  • I thought after your last book – and the end of your columns – you will stop writing! You have me pleasantly surprised!Senior Omani Public Official (Retired)

This is my Third Arab Management Book after Psychology of Arab Management Thinking! And A Cry For Help! And my 12th book! Three books are on Road Safety and the balance are based on my columns and writings!

All my Arab Management books have been written after a major upheaval in my life at the work front and elsewhere involving my life! I was always under the impression that my book A Cry For Help! As was going to be my last book in Arab Management with the events that followed proving my case why ‘I needed help!’ as an Arab Manager! Though trying best to keep to myself – and trying to avoid conflict and confrontations as much as I possibly could – but people would not leave me alone! They were still after me!

I then decided to accept the challenge and write this book. Like the other books – I have tried to be as factual as possible – and with my usual style of writing of speaking to you directly from my heart – and to be as sincere, genuine, frank, forthright as possible – so that this book can not only be used in Research works – but as a Guide and Beacon for the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren – and future generations by the Grace of Allah SWT God – Ameen Amen.

It is my Final Attempt to High light a ‘Quickly Deteriorating Situation’ before malaise, stalemate and decadence sets in at The Work Front and its environment! In this book nobody has been spared – and that includes even myself too!

“Our religion is one of faith, compassion, love, tolerance, and understanding – yet some of us use its name to justify their wanton and indiscriminate acts.”

This book is a large collection of articles the author has written for the book and from his newspaper column entitled “Between Us Only” in the Oman Daily Observer. He writes from a management perspective and thirty years employment in human resources and training. No punches are pulled in describing his experiences with racial prejudice in big corporation culture, both from expatriate staff and even his fellow Omani workers.

But the scope is not limited to business issues. Reasons for the economic lag in Arabic countries are also floated: “I suspect that a real problem exists in the mind of Arabs: They do not feel that they own their own countries.” These issues seem prescient of the contemporary “Arab Spring.” The al-Qaeda phenomenon is analyzed, as is the since-repressed popular rebellion against the re-election of Ahmedinejad in Iran.

His reporting on the actual conditions that foreign workers must suffer in the oil-super-rich country of Dubai are astounding. The bulk of the book is about management and human resource issues, however, and the author’s commentary is unique in its Arabic and Muslim perspective.

Suleimany originally wanted to break up the book into topics, but was told by his countries Censor Board to print them chronologically. The result is one that might put off more academically interested readers in Arabic management issues. There are no neat categories to index or access in an orderly fashion. But the general drift of the writing is illuminatingly simple. Simple human respect and kindness, universal values that transcend culture and creed, are re-affirmed throughout.

The tone of the book is journalistic, not too far from the sense of an American editorial column. It is filled with concrete examples of the way companies operate in the Arab world and as such is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in that subject. It is not a book on management theory in the abstract; the author’s rationale is moral and ethical, based on an Islamic understanding of the human condition. His approach is moderate, however, with the result being more light on effective corporate management, from the unique perspective of a manager-writer form Oman
